This beautiful handle and scabbard set is crafted from locally sourced cherry wood. After planing the lumber, and ripping it down to size, I methodically route out the inside of each half using specialized bits until the chassis and blade fit cleanly. The parts are then glued, clamped and left for 24 hours to cure. Once curing is complete the squared handled and scabbard begin to be shaped until the rough shape is achieved. At that point sanding takes place. using grits ranging 220 to 1000 is very time consuming, but the surface finish is more than worth it!
